A session with Miko Forgarty
Born in London in 1997, Miko moved to the US when she was 2 years old. Currently she is an artist with the Birmingham Royal Ballet in the United Kingdom. She holds Swiss, British, and Japanese nationality and lives in California. At the age of 12, she was one of 6 dancers featured in internationally acclaimed, award winning ballet documentary "First Position".
Miko has received worldwide recognition for her dancing. She was awarded the Gold Medal at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 2013. At Varna International Ballet Competition in Bulgaria, she won Silver in 2014 and Bronze in 2012. At the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland, she was recognized as the best Swiss dancer in 2013. In the US, she won Bronze at the New York finals of the Youth America Grand Prix in 2010 and Gold Medals at the World Ballet Competition in 2009 and 2011.

1. What's the funniest question someone has ever asked you about ballet?
Miko - The funniest question is when people ask if ballet is hard.
2. Adage or allegro?
Miko - Allegro!.
3. What's your favorite part in a ballet class?
Miko - The very beginning and very end of class.
4.You are extremely flexible but you still maintain your strength! How did you attain a balance in both flexibility as strength?
Miko - Stretch everyday, and also make sure to condition and do pilates!
5.Which performance left you the greatest impression?
Miko - My last performance at the Moscow International Ballet Competition because it was the last of 7 solos that I had to perform and all of them had gone exactly how I wanted them to go.
